About me
Kirsten Bruening
My passion for photography began in my childhood. My father recognized my talent early on and allowed me to pursue this hobby from a young age.
After a long break, I returned to photography in 2018. My son had also discovered his passion for photography, and it was a passion we could share. I quickly realized that I wanted to expand my knowledge. The world hadn't stood still since my childhood, and technological progress had caught up with me. So, in 2018, I began a Bachelor's degree in Photojournalism at a private university. Alongside various diplomas, I completed my Master's degree in Photojournalism there in 2022.
My particular focus was on black and white photography. Black and white photographs offer us a glimpse into a magical world, a world of pure and unique photography. I believe the strongest connection a photographer can forge is a friendship with light. Photography means painting with light and creating unique works of art. Black and white photographs allow the viewer to see more than would ever be possible in a color photograph.
My photographs have been featured and published multiple times in New York and Paris, and I am also an award-winning photographer.
Since 2024, I have volunteered as a photographer for the "Dein Sternenkind" (Your Star Child) Foundation. In this role, I create lasting memories for parents, providing them with the first and last photographs of their deceased child. In this moment of silence and grief, there is no more important place to create lasting memories. Out of respect for the parents and children, I am not publishing a photograph of this work here. Love remains!
